About Artist

I was born in Madison, Wisconsin and  was encouraged at an early age to pursue my artistic aspirations. I received my early arts education through the public school system in Madison where I developed an appreciation for all artistic pursuits.   I attended Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan on scholarship and received a B.F.A. in Illustration in 1995. After working as an illustrator for five years I decided to go back to school, after which I received a second B.F.A. in Furniture Design in 2002. I now work as a furniture designer for a major furniture manufacturer.

I started my work as a stained glass artist in 1991 under the tutelage of an instructor. While I enjoyed the glasswork as a hobby, I quickly discovered I wanted more. I opened my studio in 1994 and started doing art fairs. To further my skills I spent a year working with a stained glass studio, completing projects (from design, fabrication and installation) such as large ecclesiastical windows, coffeehouses, and residential commissions.

My current work is largely inspired by turn-of-the-last-century designs from Craftsman and Art Nouveau designers. More inspiration is drawn from my weekend hobby as an architectural buff and the ornamentation found on buildings. During my time as an illustrator I developed a fondness for bright colors and abstract forms and these can be found in some of my more contemporary items. I currently participate in art fairs during the summer and holiday season as well as complete several commissions during the year.

My studio is located in the small river town of Trempealeau, Wisconsin.
